How to store a piano

Most people love music and have purchased their own pianos. They enjoy playing them every time they feel low or want to entertain others. Apart from moving it from one destination to the other, piano storage also needs safe measures to be taken. If the owner is not very keen, the instrument might get damaged in the process. Appropriate storage of the piano requires one to take a few steps into consideration. These entail the following.

Regulate the temperature of storage space

A piano is one of the instruments that is very sensitive to temperature changes. If one does not take this into consideration therefore, he or she might end up losing it due to damage from adverse conditions. For instance, if you are moving it from a cooler area to a warmer one, then you have to allow it acclimatize well. Slow adaptation to the new environmental conditions is important because some of the crucial parts cannot get harmed.

Select an appropriate storage space

Once you have made up your mind that you really want to purchase a piano, one of the preparations you need to do is to make sure you select a good storage space so that once it comes, you will not have to panic over anything. For instance, a cool and dry space is recommended and therefore, you must make sure you get it. Always avoid damp areas as they can cause damage to the metallic parts of the piano.

Clean the piano

Before the grand piano storage, it is important to make sure you clean it once you are done with playing the music. Some people fail the exercise when they directly take it for storage without considering to clean it. If you are in a dusty area, make sure you wipe it off with a clean piece of cloth. Once you are done with this, polish the machine and then store it. This ensures long term service to the owner because it does not get damaged easily. Cover the piano

As said earlier, one of the greatest enemies of a piano is dust. Therefore as you store it, you just do something to make sure dust does not reach it. For instance, you can simply cover it with a clean piece of cloth to keep it safe from the bangs of the storage room. Make sure that all the parts are well covered to avoid later regrets. This is not a tough exercise to do as it can only take you a few minutes. You also need to be careful with the material you are using to cover it because some of them may have the dust and therefore if you do not consider checking, you will be the loser.
